SARAH PRING.jpg

Sarah Pring is a character mezzo-soprano, vocal coach and mentor on Sky Arts 'Anyone Can Sing' in partnership with English National Opera which is aired later in the year.

Sarah trained at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, and at the National Opera studio winning the Sir John Christie Award from Glyndebourne Festival opera, before continuing to study in Florence Italy with the famous teacher Suzanne Danco. This tutelage led to a lifelong love of music of the bel canto era and a belief that we should all be able to sing coloratura in an ideal world!

Sarah sang the first ten years of her professional life as a soprano, later changing to a mezzo-soprano in her 30s. She is as a consequence, very interested in the challenges of dealing with voice registration and identity.

Sarah has been a Professor of singing at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama for the last ten years and has a busy private studio which often attracts stars of stage and screen.  She also enjoys professorship at Trinity Laban College, having taught both in the Music theatre department and latterly the Classical Music courses. She is often called upon to preside on assessment panels and in masterclasses for conservatoires across the world.

To achieve her Fellow of Higher Education qualification, Sarah presented a lecture with accompanist Elizabeth Marcus  focussing on how to excel in the art of the Auditioning.

Future performing plans include Larina in 'Eugene Onegin' by Tchaikovsky with West Green Opera House, Annina in 'La Traviata' by Verdi at Covent Garden, Zita in 'Gianni Schicchi' by Puccini in Copenhagen, and Mrs. Alexander in 'Satyagraha' by Phillip Glass at English National Opera.

Sarah is originally a farmer's daughter from the depths of Dorset, a lover of the outdoors, wild swimming, her children and step-children and socialising!

Showreels

One of the most challenging aspects for any performer is delivering auditions; whether a more experienced singer or an emerging artist, they remain a daunting prospect. While still doing the odd one myself, I have much advice and support to offer on this subject.
